production in all widely used surround formats. The system is based around a
completely new concept in tactile control harnessing the awesome ‘green’
processing power of Fairlight’s CC-1 digital media engine and Fairlight’s
integrated PyxisTrack video.
The
affordable Xe6. The Xe6 is an all new six fader
extension module for Xynergi that adds a high quality yet cost-effective tactile
mixing control to the Xynergi hardware platform. Up to four Xe6's can be
installed providing a traditional console-like hardware interface engineered to
Fairlight’s demanding standards for quality and robustness. The Xe6 is designed
using a new generation of color OLED displays, touch sensitive moving faders and
fully assignable encoder controls. It fits neatly into the physical setup of the
Xynergi controller, elevating this platform to fulfill the full range of audio
production tasks from recording and editing through to fully automated mixing.
Pyxis
is a family of non-linear video player/recorders designed for use in audio post
production, film dubbing, telecine capture, screening rooms, ADR list
preparation and control functions in ADR recording studios.
Pyxis is easily installed on any suitable PC platform running the
Windows XP™ operating system. Pyxis can operate as a standalone system, under
SONY™ 9 pin control, or as part of a multi-system, facility-wide network using
standard Ethernet as its connection protocol.
There are four products that comprise the
Pyxis
family. These include a Standard Definition player/recorder (PYX-S), a Standard
Definition player/recorder with Genlock and SDI I/Os utilizing the Decklink
Extreme card (PYX-PRO), an HD/SD Networkable player (PYX-P), an HD/SD player
recorder with SDI and Genlock utilising the Decklink Single Link HD card OR the
Decklink Dual Link HD card supporting 4:2:2 uncompressed video for the highest
possible video quality (PYX-HD). All versions support either uncompressed or
compressed video formats in NTSC or PAL and at any frame rate including 24 and
23.98 in the HD versions for film productions. In addition all HD versions can
reference Tri-Level sync as the master timing reference. LTC can be generated at
any required rate so Pyxis can easily be used as a master in all dubbing room
applications. All Pyxis configurations are supplied with a PCI
Communication card for 9 Pin and video sync, a CD containing system software, a
hardware dongle to enable licensing, installation guide and a communication
cable.
Workflow Solutions
Workflow tools currently consist of
MediaLink-AV, a server based
application to optimize TCP traffic to multiple workstations.
AudioBase III, a server based
WEB server for Sound effects and other audio media.
Virtual Studio Runner,
a powerful new Trafficking and Ingest solution and finally
AV-Transfer, the ultimate file conversion utility, allows you to open, play
and export audio files and projects in today’s leading professional formats.
CC-1 FPGA Engine
Fairlight’s
Revolutionary Crystal-Core Engine is a PCIe card that is installed in any
compliant host PC operating Windows XP.
The CC-1 Engine forms the basis of a variety of powerful systems, from
simple low-cost recording/editing platforms to massive large format consoles
with integrated Hi-Definition video. Since the
CC-1 Engine runs on a standard Windows PC, the system plugs seamlessly into
virtually any existing IT infrastructure. However, no other PC hosted system
provides the power and dedicated performance of the CC-1 Engine. CC-1’s
architecture allows multiple engines to be linked to form massive systems,
providing a level of scalability that far exceeds any other competing platform.
CC-1 Engines can be licensed in 5 different configurations
1. 32 Channels / 24 Busses / 110 Physical I/Os
2. 64 Channels / 24 Busses / 110 Physical I/Os
3. 96 Channels / 32 Busses / 110 Physical I/Os
4. 144 Channels / 56 Busses / 164 Physical I/Os
5. 230 Channels / 72 Busses / 212 Physical I/Os
Where
additional I/O is required over and above that provided by the
SX-20
and the MADI connectors supported on the CC-1 card itself, a CMI (Crystal
MADI Interface) card should be specified. This card requires a physical PCI
space in the PC chassis but does not connect to a PCI bus on the motherboard. It
connects directly to the CC-1 PCIe card via a proprietary cable. The CMI card
can be used in conjunction with a CC-1 card to support a maximum of four
SX-48 units and a physical maximum of 212 discrete inputs and outputs for
any one Crystal-Core system.
CC-1 Summary
Fairlight’s modern CC-1 FPGA media engine effortlessly delivers unprecedented
processing power with virtually zero latency. The technology is so powerful that
230 Hi Resolution audio channels can be processed concurrently, each with eight
bands of EQ and three stages of dynamics by a single CC-1 card hosted in a
Windows PC.
In addition, the engine provides enough processing power to support a large
format mixing system with access to 72 mix busses, 220 physical I/Os, a
comprehensive monitoring system, a fully integrated 192 track DAW, on board
HD/SD video and access to most popular 3rd party Plug-ins.
Not only is
CC-1 more powerful than any other processing engine, it is also
sonically superior with its ability to record at sampling
frequencies up to 96
kHz and manipulate audio at 72 bit floating point.
An investment in Fairlight’s FPGA technology is also an investment in future
proof hardware design as many new features and capabilities can be delivered in
software form without the need for an expensive hardware refit.
Fairlight’s
SX-48 Signal Exchange extends the CC-1 platform with
flexible and cost-effective I/O. Up to FOUR
SX-48 units can be connected to a single CC-1 card via
MADI providing up to 192 channels of discrete I/O per engine. The
SX-48 is designed to accommodate all standard sampling frequencies from
44.1Khz to 192 KHz. Fairlight’s renowned I/O can be installed in eight channel
modular blocks, allowing numerous combinations of up to six cards of analogue
and/or digital I/O to be mixed together in each
SX-48 unit or added later if required. The
SX-48 locks to external Sync at any frame rate and
accepts HD Tri-level sync, Video Sync, Word-Clock or AES as references. Your
browser may not support display of this image. Fairlight’s
Total Studio Connectivity Protocol (TSCP) allows intelligent management of
all
SX-48 I/O resources on the
TSCP
network.
Fairlight’s
SX-20 is a versatile “Sync I/O Toolbox”, and is a
required component of any base CC-1 system. The SX-20
includes two Microphone/Instrument preamps plus two additional balanced analogue
inputs, 12 balanced analogue outputs, four digital inputs and eight digital
outputs. In addition, SX-20 includes powerful
simultaneous independent multi-machine 9-pin control, with Fairlight’s industry
leading precision and accuracy.
If that isn’t enough,
SX-20 provides for Sync at any
frame rate including HD Tri-level sync, Video Sync, Word clock, AES and LTC. The
unit also generates LTC at any standard rate. When combined with CC-1,
SX-20 provides all the capabilities required for a wide
variety of audio production and post-production tasks.
PyxisTrack
PyxisTrack
is an Integrated SD or HD video option available for all
CC-1 systems.
PyxisTrack provides an integrated SD or HD video file player hosted on the CC-1
platform. The PyxisTrack output appears in the editing screen centralizing all
audio and video references in one logical area.
PyxisTrack is a video file player which can play OMF, AVI, QuickTime, Mpeg2
files from a local drive or stream over a network.
PyxisTrack supports the Decklink card options for Genlock.
