Pyxis Quick Setup

Version 1.0 – Michael Haprov – 28th June 2007

Introduction:

This document describes the proper global settings for consistent Pyxis and Pyxis HD operation.  These settings may need to be checked and reset after software update, reinstall, or a reset of system parameters done intentionally or after a system crash.  To reset all Pyxis parameters as a troubleshooting action, see “Pyxis Safe Mode” at the end of this section.

Control Panel Settings

Start “Control Panel”.
Next Double Click on “Sound and Audio Devices”
Select the third tab “Audio”

Pull down the “Sound playback” field.  Select your third party sound card, usually a Realtek, nVidia or SoundMax device.  Never select Decklink Audio or Primary Sound Driver.  Select the same driver for the “Sound recording” field below in this window.

Now select the fourth tab “Voice”

Set both “Voice recording” and “Voice playback” to the same driver used above.

Click OK.  Your “Sound and Audio Devices” settings are now correct.

While you are in Control Panel, you can check your DeckLink video capture/Playback card parameters and set as desired.

Click Decklink Setup.

Set parameters as desired.  Especially check the DeckLink output setting.

Close Control Panel

Now start Pyxis NLV

Select SETUP>Hardware

Click "Configure"

Select your Sound Card Driver, usually Realtek, nVidia or SoundMax , NOT DeckLink and NOT Primary Sound Driver!  This setting is critical for proper synchronization!

Click OK and OK again to close these windows.

Next click Setup>General Preferences and set the tabs as recommended at right or as desired.  There are many settings in General Preferences that must be set based on the application.  These settings at right should get any system up and running correctly.

Pyxis NLV Safe Mode

Sometimes it may be necessary to reset all the settings in Pyxis, as a troubleshooting method.  Once this is done you will have to manually setup your Pyxis as described at the beginning of this document.  It may be best to write down important setup parameters before entering Pyxis Safe Mode.

To reset your Pyxis, click “Start>All Programs>Pyxis NLV>Pyxis NLV Safe Mode”

Then select “Reset Global Settings” in Pyxis Safe Mode.

Pyxis will then boot up normally.  Follow instructions at the beginning of this document to get important setup parameters back.
