This feature works best if you dedicate a fast disk device for the temporary storage folder. (See below). * Improvement - When exporting MXF files (D10 or long gop Mpeg), you can now specify the location of the temporary storage folder. This can dramatically increase the speed of the export especially if you specify a fast disk device for the job. The temporary folder is specified in "View->Background tasks->Export" * Improvement - 59.94, 60, 50fps (720p) Pyxis Pro (Decklink ) now works correctly. However when running any of these frame rates, it is advisable to increase the number of video cache frames to 48 (from the default value of 24). Use the command line parameter -VIDEO_CACHE_FRAMES48 * Improvement - Now when you do an undo/redo Dream II only reloads the caches for the tracks that were changed unlike previously where all tracks caches were reloaded. This fixes things like where the output video would flicker. Version v2.1.0b13 ----------------- * New Feature - It is now possible to display a view of the 3D Panner in the video window. This allows you to easily place channels in respect to the video. To enable this there is a new button within the FMC 3D panner window. * Improvement - When a vtr is put into record, the status bar indicator light now goes bright red (not dull red). Also the machine control indicator lights will now indicate if any track is armed on the VTR, and if and when the vtr achieves servo lock. * Bug fix - Previously some (obscure) omf export options didnt work properly. Specifically: "Set Omf Sample Rate Label to 48000" * Improvement - 9pin improvements. * Machine presets are now stored for each specific machine in a preset file (identified by the machine id). * When a new machine is attached to the system, the machine is identified and the appropriate preset file is loaded. * Machines can now be named. New User configurable parameters. * Device name. * Maximum Velocity - specify the optimal maximum velocity of the device to allow Dream to maintain closer synchronisation. Most VTRs will have a maximum velocity of about 50x. * Confidence head. - optionally turn on the VTR confidence head when the vtr is armed or recording. * "Stop" command. - optionally keep the VTR tape on the heads when entering the Dream II "stop" mode. This will allow the vtr to start more quickly when you play or jog Dream II. Please note that keeping the VTR tape on the heads could increase head wear and tear, and if you do so, it is essential that you specify head protection timeout. * Head protect (timeout). Specifies the maximum time that the VTR tape be allowed to remain on the heads without moving. * Improvement - Kernel driver v32 enclosed. * Improvement - Mainconcept codecs upgraded to 7.6.1. * Improvement - Now when you press 'Blue -> Import' on the controller to import from a library it no longer causes the caches and scrollers to reload for the main project as there is no need at this point. * Bug fix - (#599533) 14.98fps quicktime files were accidently played at 29.97. * Bug fix - Omf Export. Now it is not possible to save mixes with duplicate names (and hence accidentally load the wrong one). Similarly, the automatic name/numbering mechanism has been tightened to present the user with a sensible automatic name (not just the last loaded mix name with a 1 appended). * Bug Fix - Resolved the clearing of the current mix name, when an Undo edit operation, or a library load is performed. Version v2.1.0b11 ----------------- * Improvement - Now when you nudge a clip and there is another clip at the same layer the nudged clip will go on top of the other clip instead of going under it. Now nudge is the same other editing operations i.e. trim, were clips go on top instead of sliding underneath after an editing operation. * Improvement - Some minor improvements to clip drawing. * Improvement - Better video sync stability, more reliable frame alignment. When layered display mode is turned off and this option is enabled, Dream II draws the fades like they used to in previous versions of Dream II before version v2.1.0b4. When drawn in this mode it is possible for the fades to draw their profile as a result of the dissolve allowing a visual representation of the dissolve. * New Feature - New option when deleting items out of Audiobase. You can now choose to remove all items or just the selected item in the list from your Audiobase library. Previously the only option was to delete all items in the list. * New Feature - Dream II now remembers the directory you created your last new project in displays this directory when you next go to create a new project. * Improvement - (#579060). Now fixed. * New Feature - The software now remembers the track count last chosen in new project between startups of Dream II. * Improvement - Now if you are in HD mode and using a Decklink card the audio caches sizes are made smaller to reduce Dream II's memory foot print. * Improvement - The very first time an mp3 file is opened, Dream II now informs the user that the software must be restarted to complete the installation of the codec. * New feature - Playback IMX MPEG quicktime files (.mov). * Improvement - AAF plugin v1.0.7.1 enclosed. Version v2.1.0b8 ---------------- * Bug fix - Fixed a bug introduced a couple of versions ago were recorded video was not being displayed in the video window. * Bug fix - Fixed a bug when clicking on the Dream II icon on the task bar and choosing restore. * Improvement - Pyxis Pro (Decklink) video output sync tweaks. The preferred decklink driver is now 6.8.3. * Bug fix - (more #361315) Gate with range and all layers on now correctly cuts all layers. Also, exiting the Gate surface menu reliably closes the dialog, does not leave it floating. Version v2.1.0b7 ---------------- * Bug fix - Fixed screen corruption that could happen around the track view when your graphics display is setup in horizontal span mode. * Bug fix - (#361315): Previously Process->Gate was broken if all layers was on. * Improvement - In Xynergi it's now possible to change the behaviour of shift+ctrl+jump so it accesses range in/out points instead of project start/end. To do this, the user must place a file called setupscript.txt in the folder: C:\Program Files\Fairlight\FMC\Data\User\username (username is the user's login name) The setupscript file must contain the line PARAMETER,MT_EXT,8,GP_FRE_SYS_NV_VAR1,1,1 Note: many other variables can be preset in this setupscript file. * Bug fix - Fixed a bug were video clips when added to the clipboard may go one frame earlier into the clipboard adding a one frame offset. * Bug fix - Previously media copied and pasted from another project could become offline after an undo. (introduced in v2.1.0b6). * Bug fix - (#584292) Previously mp3 import could be unreliable. If an mp3 import failed, all consequent imports failed. * Improvement - Improved the time it takes to do an undo/redo when there are video or audio scrollers displayed. * Bug fix - Fixed several causes for having no current track. - Undo or Redo with Track-Selection-Follows-Undo turned off could change or lose the current track. - Deselecting the current track after opening a project would lose the current track. Version v2.1.0b6 ---------------- * Improvement - Profiles are now placed in sub folders within the profile folder. This will reduce the total number of files per folder, and have the effect of speeding up boot times. * Bug fix - A situation where an error was generated involving reversed clips whilst localizing audio has been rectified. * Bug fix - (#581753) Previously D10 export would crash if video fades were present on the clip to be exported. * New feature - (#581449) Double-clicking Stop key locates to last Play start time. * Improvement - (#542136) All references to the 3rd serial port have been removed. * Bug fix - (#577260) : AudioBase Publishing naming scheme: Previously the wrong naming scheme was used when publishing audiobase files (1.wav, 2.wav instead of clipname.wav). * Improvement - Xynergi now displays a Timecode Capture button after GoTo is pressed. This is the same as the "down arrow" button in the Binnacle and MFK surfaces. Note that Blue+GoTo also executes GoTo + Capture as previously. * Improvement - Previously audio from AVI's/Quicktime's was imported into a common directory called 'videoImportedAudioMedia'. Now the audio is imported into your projects media directory, this helps during the cleaning up of old media. When you import the audio for a AVI/Quicktime it will now check if the audio has been imported else where and if so referance the existing copy still saving the time of importing the audio again. Also the audio file generated previosuly had the same name as the video file with a .wav extension. However, this could lead to name clashes if a new version of the quicktime came in with the same name as it would referance the old audio file. This has been fixed. * Improvement - All existing media is closed when a project is opened or newed. * Improvement - Improved playback behaviour of quicktimes that have non consistent (variable) frame rates. * Improvement - Added Clip Takes smart-pane when in the Takes menu. This displays the clips in all layers on the current track only, and allows fast selection (Pop) of previous takes. * Improvement - Added an Index Column to the Locators. This allows a fast jump to particular indices via the numeric keypad. Version v2.1.0b5 ---------------- * Improvement - In Xynergi, the track keys can be used to arm/disarm tracks while the Record menu is active. To use this, hold down the Record button. The picture keys now display 48 tracks, which can be used for arming and disarming. Red/green tallying of arm/thru tracks is present, but only the "ready" action can be used. Tracks already in Thru mode cannot be affected. To do this, go to the Arm menu in the Record Megamode. * Bug fix - (#577059) - wave files without embeded track metadata were always dropped onto track 1, when "Place files on embedded tracks" option on. * Bug fix - (#573177). When you performed regenerate profiles on selected clips all clips were not drawing their profiles for a little while. * Improvement - On the status bar the warning and message panes have been switched around. This was required now that the status bar is up the top, as the menu help messages can not be read as they now appeared underneath the menus. * Bug fix - There were a number of edit operations that could still be performed on safe tracks that have been fixed i.e. nudge clips/gain clips. * Bug fix - Fix for a case where the debug files could get very large if the video caches could not be filled for some reason. Version v2.1.0b4 ---------------- * New feature - Xynergi now allows Mute and Solo selections to be swapped. * Enter the Mute Menu (via SEL or by holding down the Mute button). * Mute some tracks * Hold down Mute Menu button - Solo Menu button label changes to "swap solo" * Press swap solo - mutes change to soloes, and the solo menu is displayed * The same thing works in reverse Similarly the soloed or muted tracks can be transferred to the selection mask. * While in the Mute menu, hold down the Mute button - SEL button changes to "to SEL" * Press to SEL - all the muted tracks are selected (and unmuted are deselected) * Same applies in the Solo Menu What's it for? While listening to a complex project the user searches for something that doesn't sound right. This is done by soloing tracks until the offending material is heard. To check that it's all there, we swap solo for mute. If we have the right tracks, we no longer hear the offending sound. We can easily swap backwards and forwards to check this. Now we want to edit the bad tracks, so we copy the solo or mute mask to the selection mask. * Improvement - When in non-layered track view mode, clips with fades no longer have vertical lines where the fades begin/start. They now look the same as when in layered track view mode. * Improvement - When in non-layered track view mode, and clips have fades the clips name now starts at the beginning of the clip instead of after the fade in drawing. * Bug fix - overlapping fades did not always behave as expected. * Bug fix - (518740), 2 clips butted clips ontop of other clips did not always behave as expected. * Bug fix - (#573028). Previously DreamII did not always detect audio in drag/dropped mpg files. * Improvement - Improvements to the graphics engine core. * Bug fix - Nudge. Previously it did not always work. * New feature - (563796) On demand, "immediate" Q streamer. Use control-j to mark the streamer position, control-k to cancel the streamer. * Bug fix - Previously jumping around the timeline in 96k could occasionally cause an exception. * Bug fix - Sometimes a frame would be resized incorrectly, typically immediately after an undo. Seen frequently when SD media was upscaled upto HD. * Improvement - (#571087)The "resync-to-record" time is always set to the embedded tc of a bwave, irrespective to the "place files at embedded timecode" parameter in General Prefs. * Bug fix - Fixed support for Sonnox Oxford Dynmamics plug-ins. Version v2.1.0b3 ---------------- * Improvement - In Import surface menu, the main project remains active after pasting imported clips with the Enter key. It no longer returns to the library project. * New feature - Xynergi now lets you toggle the Video Scroller on and off. To do this, hold down Shift while pressing Zoom (track keys now select audio scrollers). Key 601 (normally ctrl) now shows "Video Scroll" and toggles this scroller on and off. There is no tally. * Bug fix - (#570044). Previously loading a project containing 2:1 lossless (huffman) video and locators could result in corrupted video frames on the timeline or the locators or both. Sometimes the application would also crash. * Improvement - EdlTool improvements. * Improvement - (#569376). The full path is now stored and displayed for all media files. Previously only foreign (not fairlight native) media files were stored. This makes it easier to identify and find missing offline media files. * New feature - Xynergi now allows Video Track selection. It uses a "Video Track" button in the SEL display, situated where ctrl normally is. * There is no tally. * It can't be used for arming, muting or soloing, only selection and deselection. * New feature - Xynergi now allows "reverse patching" for Tracks and Lives, similar to Constellation's Path Configurator. To use it, press and release SEL. Now hold down the "set source" button to display Main, Subs, Auxes and SX-20 physical inputs. Press one of these to patch it to the current Track or Live Feed. * The Set Source button is only displayed if the current channel is of a different type to the SEL display e.g. if the current channel is a Track, but Lives or Buses are displayed on SEL. * If a multi-element bus is selected, the Left element is patched to the current Track/Live, and the other elements are patched to the next Tracks/Lives in numerical order e.g. Left to Tk 5, Right to Tk 6. * Tallying works as follows: if a Bus is the "primary" source for the current Track/Live it is shown in purple. Primary means the bus is mono, or its Left element is patched to the Track/Live. If a Bus is a secondary source for the current Track/Live, it is shown blue. For example, if a stereo bus is patched to Track 5, then when Track 5 is selected, the bus will show purple while set source is held down. When Track 6 is selected, the bus will show blue. * Note: this feature targets the "current" Track/Live i.e. the one shown in the Pad and Fat Channel. It ignores any other selected channels. * Buses are shown even if their format is zero. They are not patched in this situation. * Auxes 5 to 12 are not working yet. There is no plan to implement MT buses. * Improvement - ADR improved significantly. * The ADR list now supports a new column. You can define the "Character" for each ADR cue event. You can filter and sort by character. * Previously Word wrap (ADR preferences) didnt work. * ADR output on the decklink output improved. * Previously you could not choose the font for the decklink ADR output. * You can now choose the height of the ADR screen on the decklink output * the decklink video streamer is drawn on top of the ADR text, not underneath. * various other improvements and fixes. * Bug fix - (#568433). Previously AudioBase did not ignore embedded BWF track if this was set in the Prefs. * Bug fix - Fix for a bug with wrong clip selection that could occur when in intersecting range mode, this bug was introduced in version 1.60.0b6. * Bug fix - The edit operations copy head/tail were not working on safe tracks. * Bug fix - Increased timeout for getting a set of results from Audiobase from 10 seconds to 30 seconds Version v2.1.0b2 ---------------- * Improvement - It is no longer possible to Jog or Shuttle into snatches of stale audio. The "back/front" registers in CC1 hardware are enabled in Jog and Shuttle, only. If any related problem is suspected, the registers can be disabled with -NOBACKFRONT command line option. * Bug fix - (#567543). Previously exporting AVI with no audio selected caused a crash/exception. * Bug fix - (#566586). Previously it was not possible to remotely arm the video track on Dream II via 9pin remote. * Improvement - (#496187) When localising omf files, the media name of the omf audio will now be embedded into the resultant wave file. * Bug fix - When a scroller was displayed at the same time as the Audiobase list, sometimes you could not scroll the bottom of the Audiobase list. Now fixed. * New feature - Xynergi now displays VCA Group Masters, and allows them to be called, named muted and soloed. To access, use SEL, select Buses, then use Bank Up or Down to display VCA groups. The same applies in the Name Path display and the Mute menu. In the Solo menu, VCAs are automatically displayed when buses are selected, because the other bus types cannot be soloed. Note that the Solo and Mute On/Off toggles do not affect VCA groups (the Mute toggle doesn't affect the other bus types either). * Bug fix - (#540219 ). Previously transparent BITC on the decklink output would become corrupted on a video image that wasnt full resolution. * Improvement - (#504696). Arming the video track will now automatically enter video capture mode if not already so. * Improvement - (#484616). Clip Gain command will now highlight (in dark red) the clips being adjusted. * Bug fix - (#557063). Some features of tape mode were broken. * Improvement - Now when you go back to the main project after being in a library it re-enables any external machines that were previously enabled. * Bug fix - (#551424) - bouncing whilst at an ntsc rate (29.97 or 23.98) sometimes produced a clip? that wasnt the right size ( by a fraction of a sample ). * Bug fix - Previously playing 720 x 405 quicktime files in HD, with a decklink card failed. * Bug fix - (#560114), A bug induced when - clips were reversed & - localise with handles causing very long background task execution has been fixed. * Bug fix - Fixed a crash that could occur when going back from full screen video when Audiobase was also displayed. * Bug fix - In a rare case the menus could not be clicked on after coming back out off full screen video mode. * Bug fix - Fix for support of plug-ins with multiply defined long parameter names. * New feature - In Setup surface menu, the Range softkey toggles between AUTO and MANUAL. When AUTO is selected, the Range and All Layers are automatically cleared whenever a base-priority menu key is pressed. This was the behaviour of the original MFX console. When MANUAL is selected, the Range is not automatically cleared. This was the behaviour of all earlier Dream II and Xynergi systems. Version v2.1.0b1 ---------------- * Bug fix - Fix where with certain numbering of bitmaps sequences they would fail to import. * Bug fix - (#562168) - The ability to drag bitmaps onto the timeline was broken. Note: currently only 32 bit bitmaps can be dragged onto the timeline. Other bitmaps can be imported. * Bug fix - (#559138) - Further tweak to device driver - requires driver version 29 (enclosed). * Bug fix - (#561634), Some omf audio clips were offline when imported. * Bug fix - (#561632) Previously OMF export was always embeding audio. * New Feature - Now when when deleting a project in 'Media and Project Management' it gives you the option if you would like to delete the projects media also. This will only remove the projects media that is in this projects media directory and which is native media i.e. it will only delete media that has been localised or created within this project. * Improvement - (#552442) - 9pin remote can now optionally "freeze" the 9pin remote timecode stream when the machine is placed offline. This behaviour is configured in the 9pin remote configure dialog: "Offline Remote Behaviour". * New feature - Reveal Project File. This will open a windows explorer, containing the current project file. Available under the File menu. * Improvement - Cleaned up layout of the 'Media and Project Management dialog'. * Bug fix - Fix for when dropping multiple MP3's on the timeline that were a different sample rate than the project. Instead of butting up against each other they would over-lap. * Improvement - Dream II now checks earlier if another version of Dream II is running. This fixes up the case where the debug logs could get corrupted. * Bug fix - (#559138), previously using Dream to auto record to a vtr was late and not necessarily frame accurate. To achieve this, there is now a new parameter associated with each vtr, called Edit Delay. This value compensates for the edit delay present in all mechanical vtrs. This value is typically 4 - 6 frames. The edit in and out points are now reliably frame accurate. Requires Kernel Driver plugin v28 (enclosed). * Bug fix - Fixed a crash that could occur when attempting to import video into the project via the menu 'File -> Import -> Video File'. * Improvement - (#559467), Unnecessary errors removed from the backup log. * Improvement - Now checks if there is enough room on your media device before importing the video in File -> Import -> Video File. * New Feature - (#552449) Dream II can now access media (e.g. MT files, .WAV files, FUF files) on a read-only volume. The volume must still be a "Fairlight Media device". You must initially have write-permission to the volume to make it a "Fairlight Media device" once. After that, the volume can be made read-only. (Preliminary) * Improvement - (#529441)"Media File Guid Conflict". This message has been changed to be less cryptic and more accurately describe the situation. An "apply to all" button is now available. * Bug fix - Previously importing an OMF file EDL with external files, where the name of some individual files were very long (256+ characters) could have resulted in a crash. # Bug fix - (#553199). EdlTool - previously if the source project had tracks empty (e.g. 1,2) then edits were shifted up when they were conformed. * Bug fix - previously pressing 'Delete Project' inside 'Media and Project Management' dialog whilst displaying a folder which doesnt have any projects would crash the application. * Bug fix - (#533456) The surface Setup menu provides Preroll and Postroll softkeys. * Bug fix - Fixes a problem with frame accuracy with MVF video Files. (mpegin.dll) * Bug fix - The pull ratio was incorrect for the obscure 1000:1001 + 24:25 case. * Improvement - Made changes to the Curves smart pane so it fits at the minimum resolution of 1440x900. // --------------------- 2.0 Branch ----------------------------------------------------- Branched at version v2.0.0rc6
