Version v2.0.6 ( Release version) -------------- * Improvement - Previously audio from AVI's/Quicktime's was imported into a common directory called 'videoImportedAudioMedia'. Now the audio is imported into your projects media directory, this helps during the cleaning up of old media. When you import the audio for a AVI/Quicktime it will now check if the audio has been imported else where and if so referance the existing copy still saving the time of importing the audio again. Also the audio file generated previosuly had the same name as the video file with a .wav extension. However, this could lead to name clashes if a new version of the quicktime came in with the same name as it would referance the old audio file. This has been fixed. * Improvement - Improved playback behaviour of quicktimes that have non consistent (variable) frame rates. * Bug fix - There were a number of edit operations that could still be performed on safe tracks that have been fixed i.e. nudge clips/gain clips. * Bug fix - Fix for a case where the debug files could get very large if the video caches could not be filled for some reason. Previously loading a project containing 2:1 lossless (huffman) video and locators could result in corrupted video frames on the timeline or the locators or both. Sometimes the application would also crash * Bug fix - Increased timeout for getting a set of results from Audiobase from 10 seconds to 30 seconds Version v2.0.2 ( Release version) -------------- * Bug fix - (#568433). Previously AudioBase did not ignore embedded BWF track if this was set in the Prefs. * Bug fix - Fix for a bug with wrong clip selection that could occur when in intersecting range mode, this bug was introduced in version 1.60.0b6. * Bug fix - (#567543). Previously exporting AVI with no audio selected caused a crash/exception. * Bug fix - When a scroller was displayed at the same time as the Audiobase list, sometimes you could not scroll the bottom of the Audiobase list. Now fixed. Version v2.0.1 ( Release version) -------------- * Bug fix - (#540219 ). Some features of tape mode were broken. * Improvement - Now when you go back to the main project after being in a library it re-enables any external machines that were previously enabled. * Bug fix - (#551424) - bouncing whilst at an ntsc rate (29.97 or 23.98) sometimes produced a clip that wasnt the right size ( by a fraction of a sample ). * Bug fix - further tweaks to (#560114) to fix this case. - clips are reversed & have live src & have offsets (edits) & - localise with handles * Bug fix - In a rare case the menus could not be clicked on after coming back out off full screen video mode. * Bug fix - Fix for support of plug-ins with multiply defined long parameter names. * New feature - In Setup surface menu, the Range softkey toggles between AUTO and MANUAL. When AUTO is selected, the Range and All Layers are automatically cleared whenever a base-priority menu key is pressed. This was the behaviour of the original MFX console. When MANUAL is selected, the Range is not automatically cleared. This was the behaviour of all earlier Dream II and Xynergi systems. Version v2.0.0 ( Release version) -------------- * Bug fix - Previously playing 720 x 405 quicktime files in HD, with a decklink card failed. * Bug fix - (#560114), A bug induced when - clips were reversed & - localise with handles causing very long background task execution has been fixed. Version v2.0.0rc8 ( Release Candidate ) ----------------- * Improvement - Cleaned up layout of the 'Media and Project Management dialog'. * Bug fix - Fix for when dropping multiple MP3's on the timeline that were a different sample rate than the project. Instead of butting up against each other they would over-lap. * Improvement - Dream II now checks earlier if another version of Dream II is running. This fixes up the case where the debug logs could get corrupted. * Bug fix - (#559138), previously using Dream to auto record to a vtr was late and not necessarily frame accurate. To achieve this, there is now a new parameter associated with each vtr, called Edit Delay. This value compensates for the edit delay present in all mechanical vtrs. This value is typically 4 - 6 frames. The edit in and out points are now reliably frame accurate. Requires Kernel Driver plugin v28 (enclosed). * Bug fix - Fixed a crash that could occur when attempting to import video into the project via the menu 'File -> Import -> Video File'. # Bug fix - (#553199). This is to help prevent gating a clip creating very many small clips. Version v2.0.0b4 ---------------- * New Feature - "Runlock" parameter added to TcMaster Machine configuration. If performs a similar function to the runlock parameter in LTC & MTC chase. If runlock is on, after Dream II establishes initial synchronisation to a 9pin vtr, no attempt is made to follow or track timecode jumps. If runlock is off, Dream II will attempt to follow and track timecode jumps. The timecode tracking window can be specified (independently for play and record modes). By default "runlock" is on. * Improvement - The EdlTool can now correctly conform a project from itself. * Improvement - Xynergi: double-pressing Takes toggles Layered view off/on. Version v1.60.0b12 ------------------ * New Feature - 2 new timescales: Hours, Feet, Frames, for both 35 mm (4 perf) and 16 mm. * Bug fix - All the feet and frames timescales are calibrated to operate at a constant 24 fps, irrespective of the current frame rate. * Bug fix - Fixed when recording onto the video track it was drawing the record profiles for the first audio track onto the video track. * Bug fix - The smart panes could get confused and two would think they were displayed sometimes after you minimised Dream II and then restored it. Previously you needed to bring up another smart pane to fix this. * Bug fix - Fixed an issue with Automation Editing of the very first event for the current target (would appear to only move left). Version v1.60.0b11 ------------------ * Bug fix - (#522605). Previously recording onto a group of linked tracks with the lasted linked track being 192, would not include the last clip into the grouped clips. Problem was only seen with a pyxis video track present. * Bug fix - Problems when localizing omf audio fixed. * Bug fix - A bug introduced in v1.60.0b8 caused the TCS clock generator to stop after certain operations, breaking timecode-master control and FMC timecode transmission. This bug could cause 9pin vtr control to stop working. * Bug fix - Clip sync points were not saved correctly in MT projects. A clip with a sync point became unplayable after saving. Also sync points were not being loaded from MT projects. * Improvement - In an earlier beta version of 1.60 an improvement was made to trim head/tail so that if a clip was being extended so that it now extends past any other clips that are at the same layer so that they now go on top of those clips. The same now happens for Slip Clip/head/tail, nudge clip, Restore Head and Restore Tail. * Bug fix - Fixed a bug with the video scrollers when the frame rate of the project was changed. * Bug fix - Fix so that the cache display does not need to be closed and re-opened after a new project is created/loaded or an undo/redo is performed to start working again. * Improvement - Now creates a Mix Undo pass on edit via automation curves. * Improvement - Improved Performance when editing a large number of automation events simultaneously. * Improvement - Added TUI Button on Mix Menu to enable/disable Automation Curve display. * Improvement - Now when the Windows task bar has the option "Auto-hide the taskbar" checked, it is possible to bring up the task bar by moving the mouse to the bottom of the screen. Also if the task bar is not hidden Dream II does not cover it up any more. * Improvement - Improved the order of the import/export menus. Version v1.60.0b10 ------------------ * New Feature - Record profiles are now displayed on the trackview. * Bug fix - Deselecting a track could cause the current track to change even if it was not the track being deselected. * Improvement - Added Mouse based automation of plug-ins. Note that due to the lack of a touch sensor for these controls, Touch Auto Enable needs to be active when recording plug-in automation with the mouse, as well as the touch mode and Plug-in automation enable. However, the system will follow the touch mode, using a mouse release of a particular control as a touch release. Version v1.60.0b9 ----------------- * Improvement - The SX20 firmware version is tested at startup. The application will not run if the version is too old (<2.0.12) or if SX20 is not detected. * Improvement & fix - With Auto-Save enabled, the current project was automatically Saved when it was closed, with no dialog. Due to popular demand the "Would you like to save it now?" dialog is now always displayed, even when Auto-Save is enabled. This also fixes a bug that ignored errors in the automatic Save, the project was closed regardless. * New Feature - Audio scrollers now display a record profile for their track if it is in record. * Improvement - Improved the record line on tracks so that it does not flicker behind the playhead. * Improvement - Now when you left click on a video frame in the video scroller it now takes you to the beginning of the frame you clicked on. Right mouse clicking still works the same as before, where clicking within a frame moves that point to under the playhead. * Bug fix - Save As was broken in previous build for saving DR2 as MT or vice versa. The resulting file was probably unreadable, should be discarded. * Bug fix - Previously some omf projects loaded incorrectly. * Improvement - Improvements in the way video omf projects are played. Pre-rendered video transitions are used if possible. Version v1.60.0b8 ----------------- * Improvement - Mainconcept codecs upgraded to v7.5. Signficantly improved playback support for long gop mpeg, mvf files and IMX mpeg, DV100. MVF files and long gop mpeg can now be played directly in Dream II without the need to install an external mpeg codec (such as mainconcept or elecard), and without the need to install the opencube directshow filter. * New Feature - MFX3+ compatibility. This feature is available when opening or saving-as a new project. Choose project type "MT-MFX3+" * New Feature - There is a new option in "Setup -> General Preferences" on the Scrollers tab called "Scrollers on full screen video". This leaves the scrollers on when you switch to full screen video which can be useful for moving the timeline while in full screen video mode. * New Feature - There is a new option in "Setup -> General Preferences" on the Scrollers tab called "Scroller follows current track". When this is enable the scroller displayed will change when the current track is changed to so that the scroller is always for the current track. Also if you choose to have a video scroller than this option will not affect the video scroller and will leave it there. * Bug fix - (#444089) Auto-save and several other operations no longer cause reset of master clock and subsequent muting of inputs. Auto-save will now only occur in Stop, not Jog or Shuttle. * Improvement - Added Automation Display of Plug-in parameters. Note that the selection follows the current track. (i.e. Only plug-in controls from the current track will be available for selection within the Target selection list. Version v1.60.0b7 ----------------- * New Feature - Have added the ability to display video and audio scollers within Dream II. A brief description of the scrollers follows: The scrollers display the actual frames for the video track or a waveform for an audio track. The audio scroller display can be zoomed independently of the track display, but as a default, the audio scroller represents about eight seconds of audio with each screen pixel representing 220 audio samples. The horizontal audio scale can be adjusted from 15 frames to about 8 seconds. To change the zoom level of the audio scrollers use the mouse wheel to zoom like you do for the track view area. The vertical scale can be set to one of seven display modes including linear and logarithmic amplitude display. The current play head position can be moved on the scrollers by clicking and dragging the scroller to the left or right. Also you can jump to a time location by left clicking on a point within the scrollers. The scrollers playhead can also be offset by clicking on the playhead bar and dragging the playhead to a new position on the screen. Dream II is limited to displaying a maximum of one video scroller and two audio scrollers. You can control what tracks have scrollers and the settigns for the scollers by going into "Setup -> General Preferences" and the Scrollers tab. Also you can toggle the video scroller and scrollers for the first 10 audio tracks with the keyboard. To do this hold the Ctrl key down and press the track number for the audio track that you would like to display, zero toggles for track 10, or press the ` key with Ctrl for the video scroller. TUI support for the scrollers will be added in a following installer. * Bug fix - (#518485) Erase head/tail and Slip head/tail could change Soft Edit default fades into real, user-defined fades. These could be shorter or longer than the Soft Edit duration, depending on the details of the operation (always shorter for Erase). * New Feature - field based video jogging (optional). See Setup->General Preferences->Playback. Set small screen, large screen, or Pyxis Pro output to "Either" to see field based video jogging. * New Feature - Added the abiltiy to search Audiobase via fields. If there is text in the 'Search for' field than Dream II will do a global search as before. However, if the global field is empty then it will use the text type into the fields information fields. These work the same way as they did on the QDC. * Bug fix - Introduced in the last version going into general preferences, Audiobase tab would cause Dream II to crash. * Bug fix - Using mouse in Range pane to edit From/To time caused transport to locate to the old time. Mouse syntax has changed for consistency: Left button: open dialog to edit time (same as for the playhead timecode). Right button: locate to the time. * Bug fixes - In GoTo timecode dialog: Zero button did not work in some cases, transport did not locate to time zero. Pressing Grab Time (down arrow key above GoTo) while timecode dialog active did not work correctly if timecode was edited first. The transport located to the timecode-aligned position, not the exact full-precision position. The From/To timecode dialogs shared the same bugs. * New Feature - Preliminary Automation Editing on the timeline. - Once an automation display target has been selected for a particular channel, the automation events can be edited using the EDIT button from the Automation smart-pane. - Editing has 3 modes: (1) Events - individual (or a selected marquee of) automation event nodes can be altered by dragging the node with the mouse. Multiple selections can be made by control-clicking the individial nodes. Selected automation events can also be deleted using the keyboard DEL key. Individual new automation events can also be added by clicking and releasing the left mouse button at the desired location. (2) Draw - Events can be added by free-hand drawing on the timeline. (3) Peaks - currently un-implemented. Version v1.60.0b6 ----------------- * Improvement - Creating undo files now takes about a 1/4 of the time it used to. * Bug fix - ADR dialog was extraneously locating the transport and setting the Range. Certain UI actions caused needless bursts of transport locates and changes to Range. In some cases it located and set the range to every cue in the list. * New feature - The clip Level menu has a Split Range softkey when there is a range. (Resolves #460822,#513914,#513915). * Bug fixes - Various editing bugs fixed: Copy Head/Tail: - was not allowed for Safe tracks. - created redundant undo file. Cut/Copy/Erase Tail with Range: - was not permitted when playhead at Range From time. - was permitted when playhead at Range To time. Split Clip with Range: - was permitted when playhead outside the range. * Improvement - avi, mpg, mvf, mxf playback is now more memory efficient. * Bugfixes - (#504080, #503056, #504073 , #507622) AAF Plugin verion 1.0.6.4, enclosed. * Bugfix - (#460472). Previously loading a project with lots of native media took a long time. * Bugfix - (#513023). Previously Dream would leak memory if you left the system in capture mode for an extended period of time. You would see red error messages complaining about low memory. Eventually it would completely run out of memory, and possibly crash. * Bug fix - When in inclusive range mode, clips could be selected that should not of been if they were only half in the range. * Improvement - Change to help improve the speed that results are displayed from an Audiobase search. When there is a large amount of matching results it now first requests the first 250 results. This way results are quickly displayed on the screen. In then makes requests for the rest of the results in batches of 4000. The option to set the retrieval batch size in Audiobase setup has been removed, as this new method gives the benefits of both ways so is not required anymore. The small request means that results are returned quickly first of all, but with large requests if there are lots of matches then getting all the matches is quicker overall than making lots of small requests. Version v1.60.0b5 ----------------- * Bug fix - (#512438, #469846) Using live SRC, in conjunction with "Localize Audio" with handles, corrupts the offset of clips, producing incorrect audio. "Localize Audio" without handles worked. * Bug fix - Some AAC files were not read correctly. * Bug fix - Fixed an issue with DreamII value corruption introduced in 1.60.0b4. * Bug fix - Fixed a possible thread contention error with offline process preview. * New Feature - Added preliminary automation display functionality. This still has a long way to go, however it is introduced as a taster for things to come. Version v1.60.0b4 ----------------- * Bug fix - associated with the combination of live src and offline clips. * Bug fix - Previously rendering an omf video file to DV did not work. * New Feature - Dream II can now directly import AAC and MP2 files. You can drag and drop them on the timeline, or use Track -> Add Clip (preliminary). * Bug fix - (#510771,#448512) Occasionally a brief snatch of the wrong audio was recorded at or near the end of a recorded clip. * Improvement - Have made an improvement to the speed of getting results from Audiobase when a large amount of results is returned. Version v1.60.0b3 ----------------- * New feature - Tape mode (destructive) recording. (preliminary) - Tape mode can only be used in DR2 projects, not MT projects - To use tape mode, - turn tape mode on (Arm menu or Process->"Tape mode") - Make either a new tape or a blank new tape. - Any recordings ontop of an existing tape clip with overwrite record into the clip. The clip will be extended if the recording extends past the end of the clip. - You can freely mix tape mode and non tape mode clips on a timeline. - This means that you can choose to record tape mode on some tracks and normal record on other tracks. - The duration of the tape mode x-fade can be set in General Preferences -> Playback ->Soft edits (tape mode). * Bug fix - (#509313). Previously, some OMF Files did not sync to their original time. * Bug fix - AES31 - previously an AES31 adl with an empty NUENDO_CUELIST would not open. bug introduced: v1.51.0b5 * Bug fix - Previously when dragging an AVI on the timeline if it failed to get information about the AVI file it would say "Process completed Successfull" when in fact it had failed. Now puts up a warning saying it has failed. * New feature - There a new option in the menu item 'Setup -> General Preferences' under the Audiobase tab called 'Search batch size'. This is used when making a search request to Audiobase and specifies how many results to get in one go if there are allot of matching results. * Improvement - There is now a new divider in the File menu between 'Close' and 'Save' so that there is less likely hood of hitting the close item when aiming for the save. Version v1.60.0b2 ----------------- * Bug fix - Fixed a crash that could occur when bringing up either the fade or EQ smart panes. This crash was introduced in v1.51.0b6, with the speed up of performing undo/redo's. * Improvement - Backup Project To Folder: - when backing up, the modify timestamp of the media file is maintained. - upon subsequent backups, the modify timestamp of the file is checked to determine whether to copy the file again or not. * New Feature - In Jog mode, the scaling of the jogger wheel can be decoupled from the Zoom factor by turning off Follow Zoom in Jog menu. The default is On, this is the 'classic' behaviour. * Bug fix - Fixed an issue if you had performed a trim/slip on a clip and while still in the trim/slip menu picked up a clip to move it with the mouse. You would find you could not position the clip under the mouse onto individual layers. Now fixed. * New Feature - There is now a new option to turn off track selection following undo. This can be found in the menu item "Setup ->General Preferences" under the projects tab. * New Feature - There is now a new option to turn off so the displayed track list does not follow undo. This can be found in the menu item "Setup ->General Preferences" under the projects tab. * Improvement - If more than one warning occurs close together in Dream II, it will now alternate between the different warnings within the status bar. Version v1.60.0b1 ----------------- * Improvement - added support for 64 channel MADI. To enable, add a "Madi Format" key to the registry in the "Audio Engine" section, and set it to 64. * Improvement - The "momentary" action of Dream II Solo, Mute and Safe modes has been re-instated, as per QDC. In these modes, if you make changes while the mode key is still depressed, then the mode exits when the key is released. This saves one key stroke. Example: Press (and hold) Solo key. Toggle the solo state of a track. Release Solo key - the Solo menu exits. * Bug fix - MT project Save could report "Unable to save... too many audio clips" when there were not too many clips, because stereo clips were being counted as two clips instead of one. * Bug fix - (#503620) A system with no ADR license reported an error every time an MT project was saved. * Improvement - Dream II can now playback Quicktime Motion JPEG A files much more efficiently. This means that files that previously could not be played can now be played. * Bug fix - (#503716). Previously exporting "selected clips" to an aaf file sometimes didnt work. * Bug fix - (#503699). Previously exporting a single multichannel clip changed the order of the tracks. * Improvement - Its now easier to locate missing files. If the user identifies a folder for one missing file, then it is searched for all missing files * Bug fix - (#503475): Previously offline media files file name was lost when a DR2 project was saved. * Bug fix - If you were ever had a pegged range when performed an edit was operation and then pressed undo, the clips in the range would not be selected meanign you would have to recreate the range to get the clips selected again. This has been fixed. * Improvement - When an exception occurs, the backup of the project that is attempted to the file 'SoftwareException.DR2' is now placed in the same directory as the project you were working on. This project is now also made read only ensuring that a save as is done if the project was loaded. A copy of the exception file is also kept in the debug directory as before so it can be easily sent to us with the debug logs. * Improvement - Moved the VST plug-in scan process to a separate integrated utility application in order to sandbox any plug-in startup exceptions and memory leaks from the main application during the initial scan process. Note that this applications (located in the Program Files\Dream II\Effects directory) can also be run at any time outside of the application to quickly scan new plug-in additions. Version v1.51.0b6 ----------------- * Bug fix - fixed a bug that prevented the background media scan from finishing. * Improvement - Have improved the speed of performing an undo/redo so that it takes about a quarter of the time that it used to. Version v1.51.0b5 ----------------- * Bug fix - Previously opening a very large AES31 file, with a NUENDO_CUELIST could cause Dream II to crash. * New Feature - Importing an AES31 adl with a NUENDO_CUELIST will import the cues as marks. * Bug fix - #499040. Previously stretching a clip (ctrl+shift) could produce a clip that didnt play or crashed Dream II. * Bug fix - (#500291) Negative clips levels were not saved correctly in MT project. The level could creep up by 1dB. (Note MT projects have only integer dB clip level). * Improvement - Clips coming directly from omf files display the correct filename in clipsearch * New Feature - (#380349). Dream II can now directly import MP3 files. You can drag and drop them on the timeline, or use Track->Add Clip. Should also work with audiobase as well. Installation instructions .. 1) Confirm that this file is present on the system: c:\windows\system32\l3codecp.acm 2) If it is not, install Windows Media Player v10 (or later). This is available from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/10/default.aspx 3) Start Dream II, and drag an Mp3 file onto the timeline. 4) If this fails, then Exit Dream II, restart Dream II, and drag the mp3 file again. * New Feature - Decklink output can now be both advanced and delayed. * Bug fix - Goto menu could mishandle the next key pressed after Enter if it was pressed very quickly after Enter, for example from a macro. The seminal example was a macro to locate and paste: Goto timecode . The 2nd Enter was invariably lost. Now it is not. * Improvement - Startup aborts if CC-1 DMA is stalled. This can be disabled with -NODMASTALL cmd line option. Whenever stalled DMA is detected additional diagnostic info is reported to debug and permanent logs. * Bug fix - (#497522). Previously Dream could not open Thomson XML files containing an accent or more than 1 consecutive space. * Bug fix - previously opening an mt project would not find video media. Bug introduced about 1.50.0b48 * Improvement - Sony protocol machine id for HDW-2000 vtr added. * Improvement - Improved the speed it takes an undo/redo to redraw. * Improvement - Omf import retains the name of tracks. * Improvement - Added Support for VST chunk presets. This fills the hole left by plug-ins which implement only a partial set of automated parameters, with some important configuration parameters remaining un-set. These chunk presets are now preferentially used when storing any plug-in data (i.e. Project, Mix or library setting). Support for these also gives the additional functionality of restoring the previously selected preset name in plug-ins which support them. * Improvement - Added full support for chunk presets in the Settings Library. Plug-ins (or plug-in chains) from a particular channel can now be stored and recalled via the Plugin tab on the Lib page. * Bug fix - Added mapping functionality to correctly map surround plugins onto smaller link group sizes i.e. Mono->Centre, Stereo -> L,R, etc. * Bug fix - The status bar was not being displayed anymore when no project was loaded, this was introduced in the last version. * Bug fix - If you choose Trim clip and while still holding down the head/tail button exit the menu by pressing another menu such as cut/copy, the clip was left at the extended amount. Now the trimmed clip is put back to how it was. * Improvement - Improved the colour output of a Quicktime export. Note, the GPU output is still out slightly as the graphics card performs its own YUV to RGB conversion which is not quite correct which is dependent on the graphics card manufacture. This is why there is the added 601 SD and 709 HD algorithms. However, the change made does also improve the GPU output so that it is closer. * Bug fix - Fixed offline support of some UAD V4.10.0 plug-ins. These would previously report a mismatched buffer size. * Improvement - Added a status bar to the plug-in scan process. Also optimised the plug-in scan a little further, particularly those involving waveshells. * Improvement - Now when you trim the head/tail of a clip so that it is being extended and it extends past any other clips that are at the same layer it will now go on top of those clips. * Bug fix - If you performed a rotate layers on a stereo clip and only one of the tracks was selected previously only the one channel would be rotated. To make it consistent with all other edit operations that perform the edit function on both sides of a linked clip even if one side is on an unselected track, rotate layers now also will perform the rotate on the other part of the linked group. * Bug fix - Previously, in the 'New Project' dialog if a user types in a directory into the edit field that does not exist, the project opens fine. However, if the user attempted to save the project it would fail because the directory did not exists and then they would have to do a 'Save As' to save the project. This has been fixed so that when you create the new project it will create any new directories that are required. Version v1.51.0b4 ----------------- * Improvement - The maximum size of a recorded wave file is almost 4GB. Previously it was 2GB. * Bug fix - Fixed Gate preview problem. * Improvement - Backup Project To Folder will now backup files using a folder structure (similar to the way projects are stored natively). * Bug fix - Fixed problem with DR2 projects failing to find media when opened, in particular projects that referenced OMF files directly. Made projects that referenced OMF files directly open faster. * Bug fix - In Trim/Slip surface menu: Clip, Head, Tail and Sync Point "worked" with no clips selected, incorrectly entering the active blinking state. Pressing Sync Point softkey when it was already active did not reset the selection. It now correctly behaves the same as Clip, Head and Tail keys. Two-handed Trim/Sync Point did not work. That is, press Sync Point, move transport, release Sync Point. Note: In QDC, Sync Point did not support two-handed operations. * Improvement - The Shift and Ctrl modifiers can be used with the Trim/Slip mode key to explicitly select Slip(Shift) or Trim(Ctrl). * Improvement/New Feature - Export Audio. New and improved options for exporting audio files. The new options for exporting audio (either the entire project or a range) are : Mono files, 1 per track Stereo files, 1 per track pair Mono/Stereo files (automatically choose) Mix Tracks to a single Mono File Mix Tracks to a single Stereo File Mix Tracks to Mono or Stereo (automatically choose) Single MultiChannel File (all selected tracks). * Improvement - (#494161). The color of the gate clips preview is now reversed. The erased portion is now displayed as grey, and the kept portion keeps its original color. * Bug fix - (#493471), Previously performing a localise or a fuf stuff would then grey out the menu item (till the background tasks queue became empty). * Bug fix - (#494138), introduced in 1.50.0b25. Previously, some configurations of fades could make a clip dissappear from the playlist. * Bug fix - Previously some omf video projects, which contained more than 1 video track, did not display video properly. * Bug fix - The Classic Trim/Slip option did not work correctly. The Trim/Slip mode was not being reset. Clips being trimmed or slipped were not released. * Bug fix - Previously complicated multi-layered fades, could, in some circumstances, create a project that could not be reloaded. * Improvement - When there is a pegged range and you perform a nudge operation it now still performs the nudge operation but leaves the range in pegged mode. * Bug fix - Loop jog sync with Pre alignment was one sample out, the sample at the playhead was not being played. Introduced with core 237. * Improvement - The Audiobase search now supports searches in non-English languages. * Improvement - Improved graphics for the arrows within the video locator window. * New Feature - Added multiple plug-ins per insert path. Up to 6 plug-ins may be sequentially inserted/removed from each insert using the Add/Remove plug-in button. Selection of individual inserted plug-ins can be achieved via the FMC mixer window by right clicking on the plug-in name in the FAT channel. Ctrl or BLUE right clicking on this FAT insert box brings up all plug-in windows for the selected channel. * Improvement - Fixed an issue with the splash screen, where the first time you ran up Dream II the media manager dialog would be behind the splash screen. Version v1.51.0b3 ----------------- * Improvement - When doing a trim head/tail the clip being trimmed now appears on the top layer while the trim operation is performed, that way the whole clip can be seen and heard. When the trim operation is completed the clip goes back to its original layer. * New Feature - Dream II can now play long gop mpeg2 HD MXF files. To do so - you must have an mxf licence option - you must have an mpeg licence option - you must have Mainconcept mpeg2 directshow filter installed*. - you must install MXFReader2.1 beta or later*. * = these items are available separately from Fairlightau. * Improvement - Gate Preview will now appear to its previous position. * Bug fix - (#492298) When using the gate function, a silent clip should be deleted. * Bug fix - (#492245) Previously the adr streamer appeared 8-9 seconds before the cue, and did not follow the setting of the number of beeps. * Bug fix - Previously Undo/Redo was slow, if there were a lot of media files offline. * Bug fix - (#489756), Copying a range of clips and cutting or copying can crash Dream in some circumstances. * Improvement - D10 MXF files are now EVS server and Avid MC compatible. * Bugfix - Fix bugs due to very small clips in playlist. Previously very small clips in the playlist (smaller than the soft edit size) could cause the system to stop playing back. * New Feature - Dream II can now optionally generate MT projects which are compatible with MFX3+ systems. Please contact technical support for more information. * Improvement - There is now a splash screen at startup. * Improvement - ML3 import. ClipEq is now correctly imported. ML3 and ML4 export - clip gain is rounded to the nearest whole integer. * Improvement - (#488242) The Jog menu Dim switch is independent for Loop and Linear jog. * Bugfix - Fixed a bug with 'Goto'. If you store a time that is not at an exact frame and then later press the 'Goto' button and then press enter it takes you back to this exact time. The bug was if you pressed 'Goto' and then entered the time the same time, up to the accuracy of the current display accuracy, it would take you back to the stored time. Not the newly entered time which could be slightly different. * Improvement - The indication of the current track has been improved. Previously just the track name went blue, however this could get covered by clips. Now if a track is the current track its background in the track info area goes blue. * Improvement - The project open now only dislays projects types we can open instead of displaying all files. * New Feature - Added a Lock Plugin Window mechanism to each plug-in window. When selected, the window will remain on screen until unlocked and closed. This is useful for main bus plug-ins or metering plug-ins which the user may want visible at all times. Note that flexi-maps remain tied to the visible plug-in of the current selected track as before. * New Feature - Added a new option in General Preferences called 'Classic Trim/Slip mode', this disables the toggling behavior of the trim/slip button so it works like old software. * Improvement - Significatly increased the speed of the cut operation. * Bugfix - Fixed an issue with Project load time introduced with recent changes to path. * Bugfix - Fixed an issue with removing a Bus, whereby the patching of the remaining busses could be reset. * Bugfix - Fixed an issue with adding a Bus, whereby the bus to bus patching could be incorrect. * Improvement - Improved the speed of performing nudge on lots of clips. * New Feature - (#486975) The Shift and Ctrl modifier keys can be used with the Range, All Layers, and Razor keys to turn the option on (Shift) or off (Ctrl). This allows macros to explicitly set these options. * Improvement - (#489787) All Layers is no longer turned off on entry to Nudge menu. This behaviour was deemed to be confusing and inconsistent, because All Layers is supported and useful in Nudge menu. Razor is still turned off, because it is not supported for Nudge. * Bugfix - Fixed a case where trimming the head of a clip with fade ins and outs could caused the fade out to get lost. * Bugfix - When creating a range it was not selecting clips on tracks that you could not see, now it is. * Bugfix - Fix a case where when a split was done the clips layering could get re-ordered. * Bugfix - When there is no project the menus had previously been made greyed out, however clicking on them would still cause the menu item to occur. Fixed so when they are greyed out nothing happens. Version v1.51.0b2 ----------------- * Improvement - (#444093, #483467, #483470) - The enable streamer and enable beeps control is now also on the adr window as well as the preferences. * Improvement - (#484622) A new parameter added on the edltool window: "Spool Threshold" (specified in seconds). If any events are separated by less than this amount then the events are recorded in 1 go. * Improvement - (#382751). High quality live sample rate conversion defaults to High quality. * Bug fix - (#484610 partial) When you press Goto -> Clip, typing any character immediately focuses you on the search string. Previously it was the second character that focused you. * Bug fix - Solo configuration issues: A track that does not exist in the configuration can no longer be Soloed. When changing to a configuration with less tracks, the tracks that are removed are un-soloed first. This fixes a bug where all tracks were muted because the system still thought a track was soloed. * New Feature - New AAF export options. You can now specify to export the entire project, selected tracks or selected clips. You can also specify that the export is bounded by the current range. * Improvement - (#485650) When a vtr is recording, the track arm lights in the machine control smart pane are now solid red, instead of flashing red. * Improvement - (#485679) You can now specify how long profiles are kept on the system before being deleted. Previously this was hard coded to 90 days. Now you can choose any number of days, between 2 and 365. If you have too many profiles on your system, try reducing the number of days they are kept. The option is found in Setup->General Preferences->Project. * Bug fix - Jog menu did not refresh if jog parameters updated by another method, a macro for example. * Improvement - At startup now checks that the screen resolution meets the minimium requirements and if not display a message box telling the user what the minimum is. * Improvement - (#485215) When you import an omf file, you no longer have to localize before you save (provided that you use Dream2 format). You can import an omf file, then save the project directly. * Bug fix - Fixed bug when exporting to Quicktime with some widths, where the created Quicktime file would have the incorrect pitch. * Improvement - (#479930) Dream II can now arm upto 16 tracks on a vtr. To configure this, use the machine configure menu and set track arming to "extended: 16 tracks". * Bug fix - Fixed a case where Dream II could freeze in the export video dialog if you were on the Native, Mpeg or D10 export options and than tried to change which YUV to RGB algorithm was used. * Improvement - The new transport dialog has its buttons light up now when in a particular transport mode. * Improvement - Changed the display wording of current frame rate so it fits in the status bar. Version v1.51.0b1 ----------------- * New feature - Added option to modify Pan law mid and endpoints * New Feature - Added support for multiple Meter Scale types. * Bug fix - (#476838). Previously some mpeg files did not play correctly. They might have stalled or had black or missing frames towards the end of the file. The reason is that the mpeg codec used to decode the file was inferior. Now the mainconcept (first choice) or elecard (2nd choice) filter is chosen. You require main concept or elecard (3.4) codec for this to work correctly. The main concept codec (demo or release) is 1st choice, if it is installed, then the elecard codec is chosen second. If neither codec are installed on the system, the system will default to what ever it can find (usually the microsoft mpeg codec). You can discover which mpeg codec is being used to decode your mpeg file by searching the logs. * Bug fix - (#484616) Clip gain and trim now work on the clips that were selected when the level menu was entered. This allows you to adjust gain/trim whilst looping, playing etc) * Bug fix - (#484123) Oscillator frequency is now recalibrated when changing sample rate or pull ratio. * Bug fix - (#471125) Pressing Play key while Play Menu is active causes transport to play from current position minus the Pre Roll. * Bug fix - Opens some AAF/MXF projects correctly. * Improvement - (#444093, #483476, #483470) Adr beeps and the video streamer can now be switched off. * Bug fix - Fix input re-patching bug when changing to a system configuration with a larger number of tracks (eg, from 96K to 48K). The signature of the bug was a debug message re "Source actuator failed" for CH_INPUT. * Bug fix - Outputs are now muted during change of system configuration, preventing various horrible noises. * Bug fix - Loop jog was broken when using core 237 and above, now fixed. * Bug fix - Previously, some omf video files, referenced by AAF EDLs did not import correctly. * Improvement - The general preferances 'Number of Backups' option has been moved to under 'DR2 Options', as it only applies to DR2 projects. * Improvement - Now puts up a warning when running low on virtual memory, this is the maximum amount of memory each application can use in windows. * Bug fix - When greater than 48 tracks only the first 48 tracks meters would indicate if a track was armed, now fixed. * Bug fix - On some machines a user warning with a rubbish string could appear on startup. * New Feature - Added Offline Render Tail functionality. The user can select this mode when rendering a plug-in. When enabled, the render process will continue until the output of the plug-in falls below the set threshold. This is particularly useful when rendering a reverb, as the reverb tail is maintained and the clip duration automatically extended. * Bug fix - A bug with localising reversed clips has been fixed which caused the reversed clips to be no longer reversed after localising. * New Feature - The current project frame rate and sample rate are now displayed on the status bar. Also some items on the status bar have been moved around to accommodate the new fields. * Bug fix - Fixed so the Help -> Licenses menu item displays if you have a HD license or not. * New Feature - There is a new menu item 'View -> Transport Window' which displays a floating window with transport controls on it. ------------------------ 1.50.0 Branch -------------------------------------------------- Branched at version v1.50.0b34
