The CC-1 Engine
Fairlight introduces the world's first FPGA-based audio acceleration platform for the PC! This groundbreaking application of FPGA technology obsoletes DSP and host based processing systems. A single CC-1 card delivers more audio processing capabilities with much lower latency (0.5ms) than system deploying up to 64 of the industry's most powerful floating point DSP chips.
In a groundbreaking introduction that radically
changes the world of audio processing technology, Fairlight today
introduced its patent-pending Crystal Core (CC-1) audio production
engine. Based on the latest
Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA)
silicon technology, Crystal Core technology immediately and
comprehensively obsoletes DSP/Time Slice Bus architectures and
delivers quantum performance gains by shrinking hardware into a
single purpose-built media processing chip. Crystal Core technology
delivers improved quality, unparalleled flexibility, scalability,
enlarged system scope, and previously unattainable price performance
gains.
"Crystal Core technology is the product of 15 man-years of
development coupled with Fairlight's 150+ man-years of focused
innovation, which includes the invention of digital audio sampling
and sequencing in 1975 to our pioneering application of
OLED
technology in control surfaces just last year," explained John
Lancken, Chief Executive Officer,
Fairlight. "Crystal Core
technology will shake the digital media world to its core by
delivering new standards and raw performance capabilities previously
unattainable even with the most expensive DSP based solutions. It
instantly enables powerful new business and production models that
will open up new opportunities for everyone”.
